Founded by Julián and Bonifacio Echeverria, this company manufactured small arms in the Basque region of Spain from about 1905 until 1997. The the Star trade name was formally registered in 1919, and all subsequent weapons were marked as such. Star filed for bankruptcy protection in late 1993 after several attempts to survive a financial downturn that began in 1990, and eventually closed its doors on May 27, 1997.
