About the Gun

Prior to the introduction of the even smaller and lighter P238 in 2009, the P232 was considered SIG's smallest and lightest pistol. It is a fixed barrel, blowback action, single-stack design with smooth contours and rounded, snag-free edges. The recoil spring winds around the barrel. The P232 features only two operational controls in addition to the trigger. The decocking lever is located on the left side of the receiver, high on the grip frame, and the magazine release is at the bottom of the grip frame behind the magazine.

About the Cartridge

Designed by John Browning and introduced by Fabrique Nationale of Belgium, this cartridge has achieved world-wide acceptance and has even been adopted as the standard pistol cartridge by several governments. One reason for the round's success is that it is the largest practical cartridge that can be easily adapted to small automatic pocket pistols. Ballistics fall far short of even the 9mm Luger, but still prove adequate for most self-defense situations. The round has established quite a niche position in this role, often being chosen over more traditional small calibers such as the .25 and .32 Autos.

Sweet carry pistol
By Bobmeusel on 11 Mar 2019
I have many pistols and I just love the 232. It is light, thin, well balanced, well made, easily concealable and a pleasure to shoot. Yes it’s a 380 and not a 9mm. It is a great carry arm.

One Pretty Gun
By leejinks on 01 Feb 2018
The blowback action means the barrel is fixed which makes for a very accurate pistol. It also means field stripping for cleaning is somewhat simpler. The gun feels good in my hand and it's a joy to shoot. Despite being one of my favorite guns which I often carry, there are some quirks that just can't be ignored. Some may not like the European magazine release which requires a second hand. The slide is hard to rack, also because of the blowback design. Neither of these things bothers me, so it gets a 5-star rating for my personal use, but I had to drop one star just to say many people would not call this the perfect gun. But man, is it pretty.
