The Company: Detonics
This company dates back to the 1960s when an engineer named Pat Yates had an idea for a new 1911 style combat pistol design. He along with two associates formed a new company, Detonics in Bellevue, WA in the mid 60s. By the mid 70s they were producing their first 1911 model pistol, the Combat Master. Detonics released the Service Master and the Score Master in the early 1980s. In 1987, Bruce McCaw purchased Detonics, renamed the company to The New Detonics and moved it to Phoenix, AZ. The company shut down in 1992. In 2004 the intellectual property of New Detonics was sold, re-launched as Detonics USA and moved to Pendergrass, GA.. In 2007, the company was sold again, renamed back to Detonics, and moved to its present location in Millstadt, Illinois.
