About this Website - This website is provided as a reference resource for handguns and and handgun related issues. Along with links to various firearms related information and organization websites there are links to a Handgun Reference Search Database. This database contains handgun descriptions, technical specifications, pricing and links to manufacturers and importers. About the Database - The Handgun Database is a work in progress and is continually being updated and improved. Presently we are only adding manufacturers' models that are currently in production. Once we've completed that phase, we will then begin to include models which are no longer in production. To date there are 2300 various models of handguns from 65 different manufacturers in the database. The database has three screens; a Search screen, a Results screen, and a Model Detail screen. The Search screen allows you to select Manufacturer, Caliber, and Type (Pistol or Revolver), and also allows you to enter any part of a Model Number as the search criteria. The Results page provides a list of items that meet the search criteria, highlighting each model with a link to a Model Detail screen. The Model Detail screen provides a photo, technical specifications and manufacturer and importer information on the selected model. About the New Handgun Selector Tool - This is a new search tool for the Handgun Database that allows you to sort handgun selections by dimensional specifications; specifically, overall length, barrel length or empty weight. It works very similar to the standard search tool, except that you must enter a specific caliber to search by. The Results page then sorts by ascending order, based on one of the three dimensional options. At any time you can switch between overall length, barrel length, or empty weight by clicking on the sort option at the top of the Results page. Note: Some database entries my not have details on certain dimentional data. Those entries that are missing overall length, barrel length, or weight data will be sorted to the end of the list for that particular selection.
