Accu-Tek began producing handguns in the late 1980s, concentrating on affordable, mostly stainless steel semi-automatic pistols in .380 ACP and similar compact calibers. The company operated independently until its acquisition by Excel Industries, Inc. in 2001. After the purchase, Accu-Tek continued as a brand under Excel, with manufacturing in California locations such as Chino and later Ontario. Excel Industries, founded in 1975 as a private California-based manufacturer, produced the Accu-Tek line alongside other activities. Models often featured Walther-influenced designs but used a single-action mechanism. Excel Industries ceased operations in 2023 following a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in the Central District of California, ending Accu-Tek production with no successor entity.
