About the Manufacturer:
Originally founded in Canada in 1985 under the name Para-Ordnance, this company has been making specialized adaptations of Colt-Browning type pistols since 1988. Their guns are distinguished by an attention to detail that has been recognized by a variety of industry awards. In 2009 the company moved from Canada to North Carolina and changed its name to Para USA. Para pistols are known for their adaptation of the 1911 frame which allows them to accept high capacity magazines. On Jan. 30, 2012, The Freedom Group(the holding company for Remington) purchased the assets of Para USA. Manufacturing continued in Pineville, North Carolina until the trademark was retired in February 2015 and all operations and manufacturing was moved to Huntsville, Alabama.
About the Cartridge:
This cartridge was introduced along with the Luger semi-automatic pistol. The pistol and cartridge was first adopted by the German Navy in 1904 and then by the German Army in 1908. This cartridge has since been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has become the most popular and widely-used handgun cartridge in the world. Performance wise, the 9mm cartridge has somewhat more power than the .38 Special but falls well short of the .357 Magnum.
