About the Gun

The Beretta 92 pistol evolved from earlier Beretta designs, most notably the M1922 and M1951. From the M1922 comes the open slide design, while the alloy frame and locking block barrel were first used in the M1951. The grip angle and the front sight integrated with the slide were also common to earlier Beretta pistols. The Beretta 92 first appeared in 1975 and was designed by Carlo Beretta, Giuseppe Mazzetti and Vittorio Valle, all experienced firearms designers on the Beretta design team.

Analysis

This 9mm compact pistol with an integrated rail offers a solid option for shooters seeking a balance of performance and portability. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, while the ergonomic grip design accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during use. Reliability is a key asset, with the firearm functioning well under diverse conditions and with various ammunition types. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode, though it can feel somewhat heavy at around 10-12 pounds, transitioning to a lighter single-action pull of about 5 pounds. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most users with proper technique. On the downside, maintenance can be cumbersome due to intricate disassembly, and sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges in certain regions. Additionally, the weight might feel excessive for some concealed carry users, limiting its appeal for everyday carry.
