About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol is a well-regarded option for shooters seeking a full-size duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances, while the ergonomic design offers a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, aiding in control during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, with a proven track record of functioning under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. The trigger pull, averaging around 5.5 pounds, provides a predictable break, though some may find it slightly heavy for precision work. Felt recoil is manageable for most users, given the larger frame and weight, which helps mitigate the .45 Auto’s inherent kick. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure longevity. Additionally, sourcing specific replacement parts may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially frustrating owners needing quick repairs.
