About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This compact .45 Auto pistol offers a solid blend of power and concealability, making it a viable option for both personal defense and everyday carry. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of this size, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances. The ergonomics are well-suited for a variety of hand sizes, with a grip that facilitates a secure hold, though some users may find it slightly bulky for deeper concealment. Reliability is a strong point, with the design handling a range of ammunition types without frequent malfunctions under normal conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring diligent care to ensure longevity. Parts availability may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, while the felt recoil is noticeable but manageable for most shooters with proper technique, reflecting the potent caliber in a smaller frame.
