About the Gun

The SIG Pro was the first polymer-frame handgun from Sig Sauer and one of the first pistols to feature a built-in universal accessory rail and interchangeable grips. The overall design is slightly different from earlier Sig Sauer pistols such as P220 or P226, as there is no separate dis-assembly lever on the frame and the slide release lever looks quite different.

Production

Production of this firearm began in 1999 and continued until around 2010. It was manufactured during a period when polymer-framed designs gained popularity, reflecting a shift toward lightweight, durable materials in handgun production.

Analysis

This .40 S&W pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a balance of performance and practicality. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, making it suitable for both defensive and target applications. The ergonomics are well-designed, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, promoting a secure hold under stress. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions smoothly even after extended use in diverse conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges for some users, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds in double-action, which aids in control. Felt recoil is manageable, though it can be noticeable for less experienced shooters, requiring practice to master. Overall, it’s a solid choice with minor drawbacks to consider.

Had this for so long, very reliable and shoots great. Love the change out grips and night sights (not sure if that was all models). My only grip is the odd rail. It's all its own so will only take accessories for that gun.... Sorta got ya there.
