Analysis

This .40 S&W caliber backup pistol offers a compelling option for those seeking a compact secondary firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at close to medium ranges, ideal for defensive scenarios. The ergonomics are well-thought-out, with a grip that accommodates various hand sizes, promoting a secure hold during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong suit, as it performs consistently even under adverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the intricate design of certain components, requiring more time and care than some alternatives. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which aids in precision shooting. Felt recoil is noticeable but manageable, though shooters sensitive to snap in this caliber might need acclimation. Overall, it’s a solid choice with minor drawbacks to consider.

AMT Backup .40 S&W

This is a real hand cannon. Not pleasant to shoot. Trigger pull was awful (women couldn’t pull it) so I had my gunsmith work it over. It took him a year, But he got it manageable for me. It’s very concealable but a bit heavy. Power of .40 S&W makes up for drawbacks. It’s my carry gun.
