About the Gun

The FXH-9C is a Commander-size 1911-style single-action pistol with a polymer frame reinforced by metal inserts, molded finger-groove grips, a dust-cover accessory rail, and a lightened steel slide. It uses Glock-pattern sights with a fiber-optic front, an ambidextrous thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety, and a skeletonized trigger, and it feeds from single-stack 9 mm 1911 magazines.

Production ran from 2017 through 2021.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $650. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $350–$400.

Analysis

American Tactical added the FXH-9C as the Commander-length 9 mm gun on the same U.S.-made hybrid frame as the Government FXH-9—polymer with two aluminum inserts, Glock-pattern sights, and a removable optic plate. Blue Book dates the Commander 9 mm from 2017, the same year as the Government 9 mm hybrid. It stayed a single-stack 1911 and used the same lockwork family as the .45 Auto Commanders. Regular catalog life closed in 2021 as American Tactical put more weight on the later Moxie hybrids in .45 Auto. Used examples are thinner on the ground than the Government FXH-9 and trade as inexpensive polymer 1911s rather than collector pieces.
