About the Gun

Full-size polymer-grip striker-fired 9 mm pistol with an internal steel chassis inside the grip module, using the AF-Speedlock non-tilting barrel and a low bore axis. It is the longer-slide, 5 in-barrel companion to the Type B Gen 2 and Type D, with the same modular grip—interchangeable backstraps, side panels, and removable extenders—plus a dust-cover accessory rail. A flat-faced short-reset trigger, fiber-optic front and black notch rear sights on Glock-pattern dovetails, a high beavertail, and a flared magwell are standard.

Production began in 2026 and is currently ongoing.

Market value

MSRP is around $1,200. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $900–$1,100.

Analysis

Archon showed the Type A at IWA 2025 as the long-slide member of the Czech-made Gen 2 family and put it into serial production in 2026. The lockwork, steel chassis, and modular grip are the same as the Type B Gen 2; the Type A adds barrel and slide length for a longer sight radius aimed at sport and range use. Optic cuts and a threaded barrel were cataloged with the launch. U.S. examples are still scarce, so the used market is thin next to the compact Type B.
