About the Gun

The Archon Type B Gen 2 is an evolution of the original Strike One/Type B platform, now fully produced in the Czech Republic. Retaining the revolutionary AF-Speedlock non-tilting barrel and ultra-low bore axis, it adds complete grip modularity with tool-free interchangeable backstraps and side panels (rubber or aggressive stipple textures) plus the ability to resize the frame between full-size, compact, and subcompact configurations. The slide incorporates a forward relief notch, the trigger remains flat-faced with a short audible reset, and the frame features a higher beavertail and deeper trigger-guard undercut for improved hand placement.

Analysis

On the range the Gen 2 is one of the flattest, softest-shooting polymer strikers available. Recoil is nearly straight back with almost no muzzle rise, producing effortless 0.14–0.17-second splits and sub-2-inch 25-yard groups with duty ammo. The crisp 5–5.5 lb trigger and ultra-low bore axis make it feel like a race-tuned CZ in a Glock-sized package. The modular grip system lets shooters dial in perfect fit without sacrificing the legendary shootability that made the original famous. Minor grip texture can still be abrasive in long sessions, but overall performance remains elite.
