About the Gun

Armscor recently signed a manufacturing agreement with Tanfoglio Arms of Italy to exclusively manufacture and sell various pistol models using the Armscor brand to its worldwide sales network. A result of this agreement are the Tanfoglio series MAP and MAPP pistols manufactured by Amscor in the Philippines and marketed in the US through Rock Island Armory. MAP1 and MAPP1 pistols use the Browning short recoil action and have an Iintegrated front sight, snag-free combat rear sight, double-action (DA/SA) trigger, an automatic safety on the firing pin & manual frame mounted lever and a Parkerized finish for steel parts. There is an accessory rail on the polymer frame models for tactical lights, lasers, etc.

Analysis

This 9mm pistol offers a solid option for shooters seeking a reliable and accurate firearm. Its design prioritizes ergonomics, with a grip that fits comfortably in most hands, facilitating a natural point of aim. The accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive ranges. Reliability is a strong suit, as it cycles smoothly with a variety of ammunition types under standard conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds in single action, though some may find the double-action pull heavier than preferred. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most users, even during extended range sessions. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a more complex disassembly process. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges, as availability is limited in certain regions. This could be a concern for those prioritizing long-term support or customization.
