About the Gun

Armscor's TCM series of pistols are functionally a 1911 series-70 pistol design but chambered for their unique .22 TCM cartridge. Since the .22 TCM is essentially a stepped-down 9mm cartridge, the gun can fire 9mm rounds from the same magazine by simply replacing the barrel and recoil spring. Armscor ships both .22 TCM and 9mm barrels and springs with each TCM pistol. The TCM series includes both single-stack 10-round models and double-stack 17-round models.

Production

Analysis

This firearm in the .22 TCM chambering offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a unique blend of performance and design. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering tight groupings at moderate ranges due to the high-velocity cartridge and well-balanced barrel. The ergonomics are thoughtfully executed, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, promoting a secure hold during extended sessions. Reliability is generally solid, with consistent feeding and ejection under normal conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, as the specialized caliber requires meticulous cleaning to prevent buildup. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge, limiting options for customization or repair. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 pounds, which aids precision, while the felt recoil is surprisingly mild for the cartridge’s speed, making follow-up shots manageable. It’s a niche choice, best suited for experienced users.
