About the Gun

The Beretta 92 pistol evolved from earlier Beretta designs, most notably the M1922 and M1951. From the M1922 comes the open slide design, while the alloy frame and locking block barrel were first used in the M1951. The grip angle and the front sight integrated with the slide were also common to earlier Beretta pistols. The Beretta 92 first appeared in 1975 and was designed by Carlo Beretta, Giuseppe Mazzetti and Vittorio Valle, all experienced firearms designers on the Beretta design team.

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a full-sized duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is noteworthy, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system that aids in consistent shot placement. Ergonomically, the grip shape accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, with a proven track record of functioning under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Parts availability may pose challenges for some users, particularly in less common regions. The trigger pull, while smooth in double-action mode, can feel heavy for newer shooters, and the single-action pull is crisp but requires familiarity. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, though it may be noticeable with hotter loads during rapid fire.

Beretta Model 92FS

Great overall gun, totally infallible and will eat & digest any 9x19 ammo from any manufacturer. Bullets can be FMJ, JHP, LSWC, Quality handloads, etc., expensive pistol but totally dependable in any adverse condition. Never had FTF, no Stovepipes, no ejection problems were ever encountered. Dropped in mud, quickly cleaned off as best possible with free hand, pointed barrel downward, shook & drained as best possible, continued shooting with same mag. High capacity mags never falter either. You can be assured, if you do your part, this gun will ALWAYS do its part, and you’ll make it home in one piece. MikeB.
