About the Gun

The Beretta 92 pistol evolved from earlier Beretta designs, most notably the M1922 and M1951. From the M1922 comes the open slide design, while the alloy frame and locking block barrel were first used in the M1951. The grip angle and the front sight integrated with the slide were also common to earlier Beretta pistols. The Beretta 92 first appeared in 1975 and was designed by Carlo Beretta, Giuseppe Mazzetti and Vittorio Valle, all experienced firearms designers on the Beretta design team.

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol is widely recognized for its dependable performance across various conditions. Its accuracy is commendable, benefiting from a well-designed barrel and sight system that aids in consistent shot placement. Ergonomically, the grip shape accommodates a broad range of hand sizes, promoting a secure hold during extended use. Reliability is a strong suit, with the firearm functioning smoothly even under rigorous use, making it a trusted choice for many shooters. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for proper care of its components. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode but may feel heavy for some users at around 10-12 pounds, while single-action is crisper at roughly 5 pounds. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, though newer shooters might notice it more during rapid fire.

Military handgun
By XDboy on 24 Jul 2021
Used this for my 16 years in the USMC. I got out right as they switched to the Sig. From what I experienced it was a reliable, accurate handgun. For defense its too big and too weak (9mm) for me and I'd take my XD. The military really abuses the crap out of their guns and its been known to have locking block breakages regularly.
