Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at typical engagement distances, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. The ergonomics are thoughtfully executed, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, promoting a secure hold during extended use. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions smoothly under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure optimal performance. Availability of replacement parts may also pose challenges for some users, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5-6 pounds in double-action mode, though some may find it slightly heavy. Felt recoil is manageable but noticeable, given the potent caliber, necessitating proper grip technique for control.

Beretta 96-G LE/M version
By BrokeDaddy on 12 May 2022
.40S&W, 4.9" barrel w/Decocker Only lever, No Safety, No accessory rail This pistol was originally issued to the Florida Highway Patrol. At time of my purchase, it was accompanied by a 4.9" 9mm Conversion barrel, and operates perfectly and accurately iwith a variety of grain sized ammo n both 9mm & .40 S&W(10mm Short) modes, it eats everything! Its construction shares many parts with the Model 92FS frame. The Beretta 96G is perfect for home defense or as a side-arm, but due to it's total length, would not be a primary candidate for concealed carry, though I do take it along in a shoulder holster occasionally.

Beretta 96G .40S&W, unit originally issued to Florida Highway Patrol. Pistol is DA/SA and came with a 9mm Conversion barrel. Has operated perfectly in both .40 & 9mm models, with one of the smoothest and effortless slides out there.
