Analysis

The 98FS is the civilian 9×21 IMI version of the 92FS. Italian rules kept 9 mm Parabellum out of commercial hands, so Beretta chambered the same lock for the 9×21 case. The FS added the slide-retention device that also went on the 92FS. The cartridge is 9×21 IMI, not 9 mm. In 2013 the Italian proof house confirmed the 98FS will also fire 9 mm, but the catalog chamber stays 9×21. Magazines interchange with the 92. Plastic panels are the usual missing piece.
