About the Gun

Intended for both personal defense and law enforcement use, this polymer frame pistol is a modular design that can be adapted to different needs and modes of operations. The polymer frame is a new departure for Beretta. But, the gun takes its barrel and recoil design from its predecessor, the Model 8000 Cougar, which utilizes a unique rotating-barrel breech-locking technique, and it takes its trigger and action design from its classic predecessor the Model 92FS.

Production

Production of this firearm began in 2004, with the compact variant introduced shortly after. It has been manufactured continuously since then, with ongoing production as of the latest updates in 2023, primarily in Italy by its original maker.

Analysis

This 9mm compact pistol offers a solid choice for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances. The ergonomic design, with a contoured grip, accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during use. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions well under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the complexity of disassembly, which may frustrate less experienced users. Availability of replacement parts can also be a challenge in some regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode, though it feels slightly heavy at around 8-10 pounds, which might affect precision for some shooters. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, but those sensitive to kick may notice it during rapid fire. Overall, it’s a practical option with a few considerations.

This Beretta PX4 Compact Carry, LANGDON MODIFIED! This is absolutely my favorite carry gun of all time! In the US ARMY VIET NAM and loved my Beretta 92, ARMY issued. At my age of 76 I can carry this all day long, easy to handle, take down, clean, and fire without any issues! I’ve NEVER had a FTF or FTE in the 6 years I’ve been shooting this gun, I LOVE IT! Treat yourself to the BEST gun out there, you’ll love it, too!
