About the Gun

Intended for both personal defense and law enforcement use, this polymer frame pistol is a modular design that can be adapted to different needs and modes of operations. The polymer frame is a new departure for Beretta. But, the gun takes its trigger and action design from its classic predecessor the Model 92FS. Unlike the standard and compact size PX4 models which incorporate a rotating-barrel recoil action, the sub-compact model employs a conventional tilt-barrel design.

Analysis

This sub-compact pistol in .40 S&W offers a solid balance of concealability and performance for shooters seeking a reliable carry option. Its accuracy is commendable for its size, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomic design, with a well-contoured grip, accommodates various hand sizes, enhancing control during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions smoothly even under adverse conditions with proper care. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a complex disassembly process, which may frustrate less experienced users. Availability of aftermarket parts and accessories is also limited, potentially hindering customization. The trigger pull is crisp but on the heavier side, which could affect precision for some shooters. Additionally, felt recoil is noticeable given the compact frame and potent caliber, requiring a firm grip to manage effectively during extended sessions.
