About the Gun

Intended for both personal defense and law enforcement use, this polymer frame pistol is a modular design that can be adapted to different needs and modes of operations. The polymer frame is a new departure for Beretta. But, the gun takes its barrel and recoil design from its predecessor, the Model 8000 Cougar, which utilizes a unique rotating-barrel breech-locking technique, and it takes its trigger and action design from its classic predecessor the Model 92FS.

Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling blend of features for shooters seeking a reliable duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, aiding in control during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong point, with the pistol functioning well under varied conditions, even with sustained use. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode, though some may find the transition to single-action slightly less crisp. Felt recoil is manageable for most users, though it can be sharp due to the potent caliber in a relatively compact frame. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring attention to detail during disassembly. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially frustrating owners needing quick repairs.

Rotating Barrel Action!!!
By JediSayia on 27 Aug 2024
Not sure who reviewed this for me that I ran across on YouTube, but I saw it, I loved it and I got it! First magazine out of the box and I blew the bullseye out of the target on range day. I mean NO red left. THIS IS A KEEPER!

Fantastic handgun
By XDboy on 18 Aug 2021
Stock version I'd give this a 4 star, however once upgraded with grip tape and a better safety I'd give it a 5 now. The gun is very aesthetic with flowing curves. Good power and capacity as well. Reliability and accuracy are its strengths.

Nice Handgun
By XDboy on 24 Jul 2021
Nice easy recoil and good power and capacity are the upsides. The downside is the safety switch is sharp and jabs my hand when I cock the gun. Accuracy is good with rotating barrel. If they put the old safety from the 92 on this I'd give 5 stars.

Good and reliable

I've had mine for 12 years. It has some kick to it with a slight muzzle rise but that's it. No misfires, no issues and easy to clean.
