Analysis

The Model 62 is the longer-barrel companion to Bersa’s first successful pistol, the Model 60. Both belong to the company’s initial .22 LR line, which Bersa introduced around 1959–1960 after earlier experimental work. The design draws on Beretta-pattern cues adapted for Argentine production: alloy frame, steel slide, external hammer, and a simple button safety. The Model 62 is distinguished by its extended barrel with the front sight mounted on the barrel rather than the slide. A further Model 64 added a ventilated rib. The 60/62/64 series remained in production through the late 1970s and established Bersa as a domestic rimfire maker before the later Thunder series. Surviving examples appear irregularly on the collector market.
