About the Gun

The P-01 was designed for Law Enforcement and Military duty, but its compact size and the reduced weight due to its forged alloy frame made it ideal for discrete carry as well. Equipped with a decocker, the P-01 provides convenience for those who prefer hammer-down carry. The P-01 was the first CZ model to benefit from updated manufacturing technology at CZ's Uhersky Brod factory. The components of the P-01 are completely interchangable with every other P-01, with no individual fitting required. NOTE: Some newer models (2019 and newer) have been shipping with 15-round magazines, so we are changing current specs to 15-round magazines. Models older than 2019 will most likely have 14-round magazines.

Production

Production of this model began in 2001 and continues to the present day, with various updates over the years. Specific dates for individual units can be verified through the manufacturer’s serial number records for accuracy.

Analysis

This 9mm compact pistol offers a compelling package for both concealed carry and range use. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate distances thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. The ergonomics are a notable strength, with a grip that fits a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during firing. Reliability is another asset, as it performs consistently under various conditions with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for disassembly and cleaning. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode, though some may find the single-action break a touch heavy. Felt recoil is manageable, even with hotter loads, making it suitable for extended sessions. Overall, it’s a solid choice, though not without minor drawbacks for certain users.

Perfect Carry Gun
By XDboy on 01 Nov 2021
I appreciate an integral safety if I plan to carry appendix which is my preferred carry. By that I mean a safety that I don't need to flip on or off, and the best ones seem to be grip safety or a heavy DA trigger pull. This handgun is accurate, reliable, solid and has a very ergonomic grip. I also love the flat faced serrated trigger guard since I use that to stabilize the gun when I'm shooting. It is very concealable, and sitting or leaning over is no problem. Also you get good capacity of 15+1 which is perfectly fine.

Beautiful and well balanced

The CZ P-01 is like a piece of fine sculpture. It feels great in your hand and even better shooting. I thought my Sig P320 M17/M18 were among the best and most accurate that I owned. This is no longer true after getting the P-01. Shortly after purchasing it, it I purchased a CZ P-09. Although, the P-09 is a great looking gun I can say I favor the P-01 over the P-09. I am ready to add a CZ 75 B to experience the rich history of CZ. I had thought about getting a CZ 75 BD or Omega convertible, however some comments I saw that the CZ 75 B is the more versatile choice.

Heavy Springs in this
By XDboy on 24 Jul 2021
I feel kinda bad giving 4 stars, wish there was a 4.5. Anyway the decocker is heavy, feels like you have to break it to get the hammer to drop. Heavy duty springs inside this gun. Also the double action trigger pull is like 14lbs. It's very heavy. I used this for home defense until I got my XD40 which replaced it. It's a reliable and *tough* gun, but it's kind of heavy and I'd go polymer for a compact 9mm. Like the G2c.
