About the Gun

The TP9SA is a single-action-only (SA) variant of the TP9 which also includes a number of operational changes and improvements over the original design. It still retains the slide-top decock button, but rather than pulling the trigger to re-cock the pistol, the slide must be drawn back just a little to reset the striker. Other changes and improvements include a consistent (SA) trigger pull, new grip and magazine design, a mil-spec accessory rail, a squared trigger guard, metal sights over the original TP9's plastic sights and a loaded chamber indicator.

Analysis

This 9mm striker-fired pistol offers a compelling option for shooters seeking a reliable and user-friendly firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, with a consistent performance at various ranges, making it suitable for both novice and experienced users. The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, accommodating a wide range of hand sizes, which enhances control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions well under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. The trigger pull is smooth and crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, contributing to precise shot placement. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most shooters, though follow-up shots may require slight adjustment. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the complexity of disassembly for thorough cleaning. Availability of aftermarket parts and accessories may also be limited, potentially frustrating those looking to customize. Overall, it’s a solid choice with minor drawbacks.
