About the Gun

The EAA Pavona made by Tanfoglio is a variant of their Witness Polymer Compact, redesigned for women’s market. The polymer-framed gun is offered in a variety of color options, with glitter embedded in the color matrix providing a stylish frame finish. While the Pavona is a double-action (DA/SA) pistol, it does not have a decocking lever. Rather, it has a frame mounted safety that locks the cocked hammer, much like a 1911 pistol. Cocking the hammer first allows for easier racking of the slide, and the cocked hammer safety allows for a light trigger pull on the first round. Both functions resolve issues many women have with semi-automatic pistols. Other differences from the Witness Polymer Compact include weight, the elimination of an accessory rail, and magazine capacity.

Production

Analysis

This polymer-framed compact pistol in .380 Auto offers a practical option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of this size, delivering consistent performance at typical self-defense ranges. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in most hands, with a grip that supports a secure hold during firing. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions well with a variety of ammunition under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the intricacies of disassembly, which may frustrate less experienced users. Availability of replacement parts could also pose a challenge, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is smooth, averaging around 5-6 pounds, which aids in control, while the felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters with proper technique. Overall, it’s a solid choice, though not without minor drawbacks for certain users.
