Analysis

The FIE D38 Derringer was manufactured at Röhm GmbH in Sontheim/Brenz, Germany, where the design originated as the RG17 derringer (or a closely related variant) before export to the U.S. market. F.I.E. applied its markings—including "DERRINGER FIE MIAMI FLA."—during importation, positioning the pistol in the budget handgun segment alongside other low-cost imports from Europe. This German-made base contributed to the use of a zinc-alloy frame with steel barrels, keeping production costs down while faithfully replicating the Remington Model 95 pattern for basic pocket-carry utility. No domestic U.S. production occurred under the FIE name for this model, distinguishing it from later copies like those from Davis Industries.
