About the Gun

Arguably one of the most expensive handguns in our database, the FK Field Pistol uses a proprietary 7.5mm cartridge. See the associated cartridge specifications. Its narrow width is a design element taken from the CZ 75 in which the slide rides inside the pistol frame, instead of outside. The pistol uses a linkless, tilt-barrel locking mechanism, similar to the FN/Browning High Power and its derivatives, but with a patented modification intended to attenuate the pistol’s muzzle rise by directing the center of mass rearward instead of upward. Except for springs and grips, all parts are machined from solid billets of steel alloy. While the gun is intended for use by security forces its profile is not very concealable, with its six inch barrel, sharp pointed trigger guard and extra-long beavertail.

Production

Production of this unique firearm began in 2015, with manufacturing primarily taking place in the Czech Republic. Limited runs and custom orders have continued intermittently through 2023, reflecting its specialized design and niche market appeal.

Analysis

This firearm in 7.5 mm caliber offers a unique blend of precision and power for its class. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, thanks to a well-engineered barrel and sighting system. The ergonomics are thoughtfully designed, providing a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, which aids in control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a strong point, with the pistol performing consistently under various conditions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous attention to keep it in optimal condition. Availability of replacement parts may pose a challenge, as they are not as widely stocked as more common calibers. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4-5 pounds, which suits precision shooting, though some may find it slightly firm. Felt recoil is manageable but noticeable, given the potent round, requiring a firm grip for rapid follow-up shots.
