About the Gun

Like the much more expensive FK Field Pistol the polymer frame PSD also uses a proprietary cartridge. See the associated cartridge specifications. Its narrow width is a design element taken from the CZ 75 in which the slide rides inside the pistol frame, instead of outside. The pistol uses a linkless, tilt-barrel locking mechanism, similar to the FN/Browning High Power and its derivatives, but with a patented modification intended to attenuate the pistol’s muzzle rise by directing the center of mass rearward instead of upward. While its standard caliber specification is the 7.5 mm FK, the PSD ships with an interchangeable 10mm/.40S&W barrel supported by the gun’s multi-caliber double-stack magazine. A 9mm barrel option is also available. Features include an Integrated optics mounting platform compatible with most leading brands, a Picatinny rail and a textured, ergonomic frame.

Analysis

This pistol, chambered in a unique 7.5 mm cartridge, offers notable precision due to its well-engineered barrel and sighting system, making it a strong choice for shooters prioritizing accuracy at extended ranges. The ergonomic design of the grip provides a comfortable hold, accommodating a variety of hand sizes with ease. Reliability is consistent under standard conditions, with the firearm performing well across multiple firing sessions without significant malfunctions. However, maintenance can be more demanding than average, requiring meticulous attention to keep it in optimal condition. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially limiting long-term usability for some owners. The trigger pull is crisp, with a moderate weight that aids control, while the felt recoil is manageable, though slightly sharper than expected for its class, which could affect newer shooters during prolonged use. Overall, it’s a specialized tool with distinct advantages and considerations.
