About the Gun

Part of Kahr's Value Series, the CW series is a lower-cost version of the compact P series, polymer-framed guns. Standard rifling instead of polygonal, pinned front sight instead of dovetailed, fewer cosmetic machining cuts on the slide. Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This compact .40 S&W pistol offers a solid option for concealed carry and personal defense. Among its strengths are commendable accuracy for its size, delivering consistent performance at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in most hands, aiding in control during rapid fire. Reliability is another positive, with the firearm functioning well under varied conditions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous care to ensure longevity. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially frustrating owners needing quick repairs. The trigger pull, while smooth, is on the heavier side, which might not suit all shooters, particularly those accustomed to lighter pulls. Felt recoil is noticeable due to the lightweight frame and powerful caliber, which could affect follow-up shots for less experienced users. Overall, it’s a capable choice with considerations for specific shooter preferences.
