About the Gun

Part of Kahr's Value Series, the CW series is a lower-cost version of the compact P series, polymer-framed guns. Standard rifling instead of polygonal, pinned front sight instead of dovetailed, fewer cosmetic machining cuts on the slide. Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This 9mm compact pistol offers a compelling option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm in this size category, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances. The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, aiding in control during firing. Reliability is a strong point, with the pistol functioning well across various ammunition types under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the tight tolerances, requiring more effort for cleaning and reassembly. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some users, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is smooth but on the heavier side, which might not suit everyone, especially those preferring lighter pulls. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for experienced shooters but possibly noticeable for novices, given the lightweight frame. Overall, it’s a practical choice with certain trade-offs.
