About the Gun

Part of Kahr's Premium Series, the steel frame K Series was the first series Kahr produced, starting in the 1990's. Features include a Lothar Walther 3.5” polygonal rifled match grade barrel, smooth DAO trigger, stainless or blackened stainless slide and an option for night sights. Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Production

This firearm was produced starting in 2003, as part of a specific elite series. Manufacturing continued for several years, reflecting updates and enhancements to the design during that period.

Analysis

This 9mm pistol from a well-known manufacturer offers a compact design tailored for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, thanks to a well-engineered barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, promoting a secure hold during operation. Reliability is a strong point, with the firearm cycling smoothly through various ammunition types under standard conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in precision shooting, while felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most users with proper technique. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to tight tolerances, requiring meticulous cleaning to ensure optimal function. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially delaying repairs. Additionally, shooters with larger hands might find the frame slightly cramped, affecting long-term comfort during extended range sessions.
