About the Gun

Part of Kahr's Premium Series, the MK Series is a high quality thin profile subcompact, pocket carry handgun model with a steel frame. Features include a Lothar Walther 3” polygonal rifled match grade barrel, DAO trigger, stainless or blackened stainless slide and an option for night sights. Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This compact .40 S&W pistol offers a solid choice for concealed carry or personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of its size, delivering consistent performance at typical self-defense ranges. The ergonomics are well-suited for smaller hands, with a grip design that promotes a secure hold, though larger-handed shooters might find it less comfortable. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions dependably with a variety of ammunition under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the tight tolerances, requiring more effort for disassembly and cleaning. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some owners. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 6 pounds, which aids in precision but may feel stiff for new shooters. Felt recoil is noticeable, as expected in this caliber, though manageable with proper grip and stance.
