Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This .40 S&W compact pistol offers a solid option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances for a handgun of its size. The ergonomics are well-designed, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, providing a secure hold during use. Reliability is another strength, as it functions smoothly across a range of ammunition types with minimal malfunctions under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the tight tolerances in its design, requiring more effort for disassembly and cleaning. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some owners. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 6 pounds, which aids in precision but might feel heavy for newer shooters. Felt recoil is noticeable, as expected in this caliber, though it remains manageable with proper technique.
