About the Gun

The Mark II was actually Sturm-Sruger's third iteration of their .22 caliber rimfire pistol, preceded by the 'Standard' and 'Mark I' respectively. The pistol's overall style was influenced by the Japanese Nambu. The Mark II added a slide stop that held the slide open on the last round, and also was available in stainless steel. The Mark II has been available in a number of barrel lengths, styles and weights. All guns with bull or heavy tapered barrels are Target models, and are equipped with target sights consisting of an adjustable rear sight and a taller, wider front sight, with an aggressive undercut to reduce glare.

Analysis

This .22 LR semi-automatic pistol is a noteworthy option for shooters seeking a balance of precision and ease of use. Its accuracy is commendable, particularly for target practice and small game hunting, thanks to a well-designed barrel and consistent performance. The ergonomics are generally favorable, with a grip that suits a wide range of hand sizes, promoting comfort during extended sessions. Reliability is another strength, as it cycles most ammunition without frequent malfunctions. The trigger pull is smooth and predictable, averaging around 4-5 pounds, which aids in maintaining control. Felt recoil is minimal, making it ideal for beginners and seasoned shooters alike. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring patience for disassembly and cleaning. Parts availability may also pose challenges for repairs or customization. Additionally, some users might find the weight slightly heavy for prolonged carry.

At over 2lbs, this steel construction 22 is recoil free and dead on accurate. I LOVE THIS GUN! I think back on old superman tv shows where the bad guys unload a gun on him and then throw the gun at him in vein. Some how I think if this gun were thrown he would be like "Geez that hurt!"
