About the Gun

Ruger's first striker-fired pistol has a very slender profile and includes features such as a polymer frame with a Picatinny rail, a reversible backstrap (flat or arched) to accommodate grip preferences, an internal trigger bar interlock and striker blocker, trigger safety and magazine disconnect. The 'semi-double-action' trigger is more technically a single-action trigger, as it cannot cock the pistol on its own. In this aspect the trigger action is similar to the Glock, S&W M&P, and Springfield XD.

Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol offers a solid option for shooters seeking a dependable duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy proves consistent at typical engagement distances, benefiting from a well-balanced design that aids in target acquisition. The ergonomics are a notable asset, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes through interchangeable backstraps, enhancing control during firing. Reliability is commendable, with the pistol performing well under diverse conditions and minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a complex disassembly process, which may frustrate less experienced users. Parts availability can also be an issue in some regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 6.5 pounds, though some may find it slightly heavy for rapid follow-up shots. Felt recoil is manageable but noticeable, given the potent caliber, requiring a firm grip for optimal handling.

Excellent shooting firearm. I have had no issues with any ammo. Feeds everything. Low felt recoil for quick follow up shots. And, you can not get much better than 15 rounds of .40 S&W.
