About the Gun

The Ruger LCR is a double-action-only revolver that incorporates many features found in the SP101, GP100 and Super Redhawk revolvers, as well as several new features. The patent pending polymer fire control housing incorporates the same grip extension design as the SP101, GP100, and Super Redhawk revolvers. The craned cylinder assembly of the LCR locks into the aluminum upper frame in the rear of the cylinder and at the front via the ejector extension. The internal parts are installed through the top of the fire control housing or through the bottom in back of the aluminum upper frame. Therefore, no side plate is needed.

Analysis

This compact .22 LR revolver offers a lightweight design, tipping the scales at just over a pound, making it an excellent choice for concealed carry or extended range sessions. Its accuracy is commendable for a snub-nose design, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive distances. The ergonomics are well-thought-out, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during firing. Reliability is a strong suit, with the mechanism cycling smoothly even after high round counts. However, maintenance can be somewhat tedious due to the intricacies of the double-action design, requiring patience and attention. Parts availability may pose a challenge for some users, as specialized components aren't always readily accessible. The trigger pull, while smooth, feels a bit heavy in double-action mode, which could affect precision for newer shooters. Felt recoil is minimal, making it approachable for recoil-sensitive individuals.

The Great Trainer and Plinker.
By Pocketgunner on 22 Jun 2021
The LCR 22 is my favorite Plinker and trainer. It has done more for my shooting than any other firearm. This gun is extremely reliable. Trigger is beautiful. Great solid construction. Thousands of rounds through the gun. I gave one to my young son when he first started shooting and told him. Shoot this gun well and you will be able to shoot any gun well. You will become a much better shooter overall.
