About the Gun

The Ruger LCR is a double-action-only revolver that incorporates many features found in the SP101, GP100 and Super Redhawk revolvers, as well as several new features. The patent pending polymer fire control housing incorporates the same grip extension design as the SP101, GP100, and Super Redhawk revolvers. The craned cylinder assembly of the LCR locks into the aluminum upper frame in the rear of the cylinder and at the front via the ejector extension. The internal parts are installed through the top of the fire control housing or through the bottom in back of the aluminum upper frame. Therefore, no side plate is needed.

Analysis

This .22 Magnum caliber revolver offers a compelling option for shooters seeking a lightweight, compact firearm for personal defense or small game hunting. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at short to medium ranges, while the ergonomic grip design enhances control and comfort during extended use. Reliability is a strong suit, with the mechanism functioning smoothly under varied conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 10 pounds in double-action mode, providing a predictable break. Felt recoil is mild, making it manageable for most users, even those sensitive to kick. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure optimal performance. Parts availability may pose challenges, as replacements are not always readily accessible. Additionally, the smaller caliber might not suit users seeking greater stopping power, limiting its appeal for certain defensive scenarios.
