Analysis

The CPX-1 was developed by Joseph Vincent Roebuck following SCCY's 2003 founding. The locked-breech design uses an aluminum receiver inset in the polymer housing with steel pins, supporting in-house manufacturing of major components. The ambidextrous manual safety sets this model apart from the CPX-2. Early production (Gen1) experienced issues such as safety creep, which Gen2 addressed through design refinements to the safety lever and associated components for improved reliability. Gen3 further updated ergonomics with a smooth front strap, shortened safety lever, accessory rail, and optics-ready options. The lifetime warranty applied uniformly across variants.
