This is SIG's own version of Browning's classic 1911 platform manufactured in Exeter, New Hampshire. Originally only produced with an integral accessory rail (as the term GSR implied), both standard and rail models are now offered.

Analysis

This 357-caliber pistol demonstrates notable precision, thanks to its well-engineered barrel and consistent lockup, making it a reliable choice for target shooting or defensive use. The ergonomic design offers a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, with the firearm cycling smoothly under various conditions, even with different ammunition types. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous attention to keep it in optimal condition. Availability of replacement parts may pose a challenge, as they are not as widely stocked as those for more common platforms. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 pounds in single-action mode, providing a predictable break. Felt recoil is manageable for most shooters, though those unaccustomed to the potent cartridge might find it sharp, necessitating proper technique to maintain accuracy over multiple shots.
