Analysis

The P220 SAO Elite 10 provided shooters seeking a powerful 10mm Auto pistol with the refined ergonomics of the Elite series combined with a consistent single-action trigger pull and manual thumb safety. The heavier stainless steel frame construction and longer 5-inch barrel helped manage the recoil of the 10mm cartridge while increasing muzzle velocity and sight radius for improved accuracy. These models were introduced in 2015 as part of SIG Sauer’s expansion of the P220 into the 10mm chambering through distributor exclusives. The stainless version with rosewood grips offered a traditional appearance, while the Nitron version with G10 grips emphasized durability and a more tactical look. They represent a specialized high-performance branch of the platform focused on hunting and defensive use before SIG placed greater focus on Legion 10mm variants.
