Analysis

SIG introduced the P238 Heavy Duty around 2010 as a more robust alternative within the P238 lineup. By using a full stainless steel frame instead of the aluminum alloy frame found on other models, the HD provided greater durability and a heavier, more solid feel while retaining the same compact 1911-inspired design. This variant addressed demand from users who wanted a stronger, more substantial option in the micro .380 category. The HDW sub-variant added rosewood grips for a more traditional appearance. Both versions remained limited-production models and were eventually discontinued as SIG focused on other finishes and configurations in the P238 series.
