About the Gun

The P239 SAS is a compact, single-stack pistol with a dehorned (“melted”) slide and frame for reduced snagging during concealed carry. It was produced in three calibers, combining two generations (Gen 1 with DAK trigger and Gen 2 with DA/SA Short Reset Trigger), Nitron and Two-Tone finishes, and varying slide profiles (slab more common on Gen 1, stepped/legacy more common on Gen 2). Wood grips are typical on Gen 1 models while polymer grips are more common on Gen 2. Sights are usually SIGLITE night sights, though contrast sights appear on some Gen 1 examples.

Analysis

The P239 SAS was developed as a dedicated concealed-carry variant of the P239 platform, featuring rounded edges on the slide and frame to improve draw and re-holstering comfort. It was offered in two main generations across three calibers and two primary finishes (Nitron and Two-Tone), resulting in 18 variants when accounting for slide profile differences. Gen 1 models typically paired the DAK trigger with wood grips and more frequently used the slab slide, while Gen 2 models adopted the DA/SA Short Reset Trigger and more often featured the stepped/legacy slide profile. This structure responded to user demand for a snag-free option while preserving the compact single-stack design. The SAS line remained in production alongside standard P239 models until the platform ended in 2018, with variations focused on trigger system, grip material, slide contour, and sight options.
