About the Gun

The P320 is a polymer-framed service pistol designed with the input of law enforcement officers. The result is an operator-safety focused striker duty pistol. Taking into account the concerns of military and police training officers, the P320 does not require the operator to pull the trigger nor use a special tool to take-down the firearm for cleaning or routine maintenance. It features a modular grip frame and removable fire control assembly, interchangeable grip panels, lower Picatinny rail, front and rear slide serrations.

Production

Production of this specific model with the mentioned features began in 2015. It was part of an early lineup of compact designs, manufactured primarily through the late 2010s, with availability continuing until newer variants emerged around 2020.

Analysis

This subcompact pistol in .40 S&W offers a solid blend of performance and concealability for shooters seeking a compact carry option. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of this size, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomic design facilitates a natural grip, enhancing control despite the smaller frame, which suits a variety of hand sizes. Reliability is a key asset, with the pistol functioning well under diverse conditions and with various ammunition types. However, maintenance can be somewhat intricate due to the compact design, requiring more attention to detail during disassembly and cleaning. Parts availability may pose challenges in some regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 6.5 pounds, providing a predictable break. Felt recoil is noticeable, as expected in this caliber and size, though manageable with proper technique. Overall, it’s a capable choice for concealed carry with some practical considerations.
