About the Gun

The P365-XL is a compact, striker-fired polymer pistol that pairs a longer slide and 3.7-inch barrel with the X-Series grip module. It uses a flat-faced X-Series trigger and an optics-ready slide. Early examples carried the rear sight on the removable optic cover plate; later production moved the XRAY3 rear sight onto the slide itself with a separate cover plate. The frame follows the X-Series pattern with an extended beavertail and accepts the standard range of P365 magazines.

Analysis

SIG introduced the P365-XL in 2019 as the first X-Series extension of the P365 platform, combining a longer slide and barrel with the improved grip of the X-Series module. The goal was to retain much of the original’s concealability while adding sight radius, capacity options, and shootability closer to a compact pistol. Factory optics readiness and the later shift to a slide-mounted rear sight kept the model aligned with evolving carry-gun preferences. It remains one of the core balanced carry configurations in the P365 family, sitting between the short-slide P365X and the higher-capacity XMACRO models.
