About the Gun

The SIG Pro was the first polymer-frame handgun from Sig Sauer and one of the first pistols to feature a built-in universal accessory rail and interchangeable grips. The overall design is slightly different from earlier Sig Sauer pistols such as P220 or P226, as there is no separate dis-assembly lever on the frame and the slide release lever looks quite different.

Analysis

This .40 S&W pistol demonstrates notable strengths that appeal to a wide range of shooters. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance during extended range sessions, even under varying conditions. The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, accommodating different hand sizes with adjustable backstraps for a tailored fit. Reliability is a key asset, with the firearm functioning smoothly across thousands of rounds without significant malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring attention to detail for disassembly and cleaning, which may frustrate less experienced users. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts can occasionally pose a challenge, depending on location and availability. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds in double-action mode, providing a predictable break. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters with proper technique, though it may feel sharp during rapid fire sequences.
