About the Gun

The SIG Pro was the first polymer-frame handgun from Sig Sauer and one of the first pistols to feature a built-in universal accessory rail and interchangeable grips. The overall design is slightly different from earlier Sig Sauer pistols such as P220 or P226, as there is no separate dis-assembly lever on the frame and the slide release lever looks quite different.

Production

Production of this compact firearm began in 2009 and continued through 2015. It was designed as a reliable, polymer-framed model for law enforcement and civilian use, with manufacturing primarily occurring in Switzerland and the United States during that period.

Analysis

This 9mm pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking precision and comfort. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering consistent groupings at various distances, making it suitable for both range practice and defensive use. The ergonomic design fits well in hand, with a grip that accommodates a wide range of users, reducing fatigue during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions smoothly across thousands of rounds with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for disassembly and cleaning. Availability of replacement parts may also pose challenges, potentially frustrating owners in need of quick repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in control, while the felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most shooters, though some may find it slightly sharp during rapid fire. Overall, it’s a solid choice with minor caveats.
