About the Gun

The Savage Stance XR is a striker-fired, optics-ready evolution of the discontinued single-stack Stance, now built around a true double-stack magazine well and a longer slide. It ships standard with an RMSc-pattern optics cut (complete with polymer filler plate), front and rear slide serrations, an accessory rail, interchangeable backstraps, ambidextrous slide-stop, reversible mag release, and a curved trigger with integral safety blade. All controls remain low-profile for carry, and the aggressively textured grip frame keeps the pistol secure without being abrasive.

Analysis

By jumping from 7+1 (original Stance flush) to 10+1 flush while only adding a tenth of an inch in width and half an inch in length, the XR finally puts Savage in the same conversation as the P365, Hellcat, and 43X MOS—yet it does so at a street price below most of those competitors. The taller XS night-sight option, integral trigger safety, and factory optics cut show Savage listened to the market instead of just slapping a wider magwell on the old gun. Recoil remains remarkably flat for the size thanks to the low bore axis and slightly heavier slide, and the trigger quality is a clear step above most budget strikers. In a segment now crowded with $500–$600 optic-ready micros, the XR’s combination of included features, proven Savage barrel accuracy, and aggressive pricing makes it one of the strongest pure-value plays currently on the shelf.
