About the Gun

The Springfield 1911-A1 series of pistols are faithful adaptations of the original 45 Auto Colt-Browning design. The Mil-Spec series is a step up from the GI .45 series and includes many improvements utilized by the U.S. military during the 1911's years of service. These features include high-profile 3-dot sights, high-hand grip, beveled magazine well, polished feed ramp and throated barrel, lowered and flared ejection port and angled slide serrations.

About the Cartridge

Introduced by Colt as an improved version of the older .38 Auto, the Super Auto is identical to the original cartridge except that it uses a more powerful loading. For many years this cartridge was considered the most powerful automatic pistol cartridge made in the US from the standpoint of both velocity and energy. It can give greater penetration than the .45 Auto cartridge, bit is inferior to the .45 Auto in actual stopping power for defense use.
